Register users

carlgresswell
Hi there,

Is it possible to manually register multiple users? So that they do not have to register themselves and go through email activation process? Is this some thing that can be achieved either with free or premium versions ?

Thanks

Also, I was wondering, if it is not possible to get around the email activation process, is it possible to customise the email copy at all? Or change the from name.. the email currently comes from "Nabble" - can this be changed?

Thanks for any help

No! Nabble always requires a use to register themselves and click the link in the email to confirm that it is a valid address. There is no way to avoid this.

Yes, the contents of the activation email is coded in NAML and it is possible to edit the appropriate macro.

However, I wonder, if this is what you really want.  Bear in mind that anyone can register, even spammers. From an administrators point of view the only function of registering is that it allows you to ban someone with that email address from accessing you forum.

Your question suggests that you have a particular set of users in mind and don't want the general public able to use your forum. That suggests that you may need to implement the "Members" group, rather than work with "Registered" users. For some background on this see this post:

It is perfectly possible to pre-load the "Members" group with a set of addresses so that as soon as they register they get access to your forum, while preventing those in the "Anyone" and "Registered" groups for being able to access the forum.
