forum mods - help

vdubus
Hi , I wish to incorporate your blog forum into my business, after searching hi and low, Nabble is by far the best, together with the support service it makes a great medium in which to focus on, but I would require some modifications to personalies my blog- 'Squid ads'. I spent hours playing about with it last night and, not being a forum user i made many mistakes :) here is a few things i'd like, just to give you an idea to see if you can help me:  Your tree outlook to work like  :-
       Squid ads (front page) - Region (London, southampton etc)  - Catagory (Auto's,pets,jobs ect)  -  Items for sale.

 Basicaly leaving it as it is but taking away a few options like ' Leave a comment & only only enable a 'New post' as the final option?

 Also removal of the footer, or at least the 'Free' bit?
 and the most important request id have is on 'Post message' button, that it could be diverted to an external Url where they can confirm 'Post message after they've paid ie:-
  Squid ads (front page)   - Region (London, southampton etc)  -     Catagory (Auto's,pets,jobs ect)  -    'List item for sale' -Mobile checkout point -  confirm' Post message' ? and then back to Squid ads.

 Other than that It's just a few word changes and maybe image/ icon mods.  I'm not very good with programing etc, but i'm learning lol.

 Everything is pretty much set up my end. Can you help ?
 Thanks

ok, please confirm that this is what you want:

1 - Remove the "Leave a comment" links;
2 - Remove the footer (in the future we may charge a small monthly fee to keep the footer hidden, but for now your premium request is enough to keep it hidden);
3 - Force the "Post Message" button to go to a given URL and your system will take care of the request and forward the user back to Nabble;

Anything else? Please confirm.

hi , yes please to all of the above, here is the URL, you require:

             http://uk.ImpulsePay.com/payforit?RouteID=1726

 i'll need a return URL from you, or a type of confirmation button? How would that work?
 also is it possible to disable 'New post' on the 'Front page' and 'Subcategories' but leave it active on  'Sub-Forums' ? - All this is still accessible to admin i take it? lol
 If you could just remove 'Free Embeddable Blog '? you can leave 'powered by Nabble'  i can put a link on the site if you like where the blog will be linked to :[  http://www.squidads.co.uk  ] if all this comes together i'll subscribe for the year! Thanks Hugo :)

How will people use your website? Are they going to pay for each post they make? Or will they pay to become a member for a given time period?

What do you mean by "Sub-Forums"? I don't see that link on your app. Actually, I don't understand why you want to hide the subcategories from your users. How are they supposed to navigate in this case? Browsing page by page? I think you should leave the links to your subcategories because they are a good filter for your contents.

That's fine. I will start working on this when I understand what you want and how it should work.

Sorry I think were getting wires crossed, to answer your question:-   {'How will people use your website? Are they going to pay for each post they make? Or will they pay to become a member for a given time period? }   '  It's a classified ads website, people will use my website to navigate around the forum and yes they pay to post ads. Which leads me to-    {'What do you mean by "Sub-Forums"? I don't see that link on your app.'}    I don't wish to disable any of the forums or as you say there ability to navigate. I only wish to disable the ability to post ads in the wrong places. ie.  It wouldn't be any good if they posted an ad for a car under ' Regions'  I need to stop there ability to put a new post or 'ads' in the wrong categories.
   If you go to www.squidads.co.uk and follow  'Automotive' and follow the links ' Isle of wight ' you'll see how it should work. :)

okay, I understand what you want. I am already working on these changes for you and I have a question: the "New Post" link should point to http://uk.ImpulsePay.com/payforit?RouteID=1726, correct? The question is: can I add parameters to that URL so that you can give me those parameters back in the URL I will give you?

For example, can I use:

http://uk.ImpulsePay.com/payforit?RouteID=1726&node=123

(Note the node parameter I added above)

Then you would give that value back to my URL after the user pays for the ad:

http://nabble-url?node=123

Is this possible? Do you have full control over that end?

("New Post" link should point to http://uk.ImpulsePay.com/payforit?RouteID=1726, correct?) no - it's 'Post message'button. I,m google clued up now on 'parameters' lol i've tried to contact 'impulsepay' today but there wasn't anybody around to help. If the 'parameter' your asking for is a variable figure then i don't think so, it's an automared product RouteID=???? number, which is generated for each product 'checkout' I just have submit a 'Sucessful purchase url' and an 'Unsucessful purchase url ' then the code is generated. how ever they do generate a code for web Developer's if it helps :-

 ( Just add this line to your website and all the necessary code will automatically generated. You may use this code as many times as you like to on the same page without problems. To customize the text shown on the button just edit the data-label-1726="Buy Now" part.
Developer's Method
<form action="http://uk.ImpulsePay.com/payforit" method="post">
<input name="Button" type="submit" value="Pay with your mobile" />
<input name="RouteID" type="hidden" value="1726" />
<input name="Note" type="hidden" value="ABCD12345" />
</form>

Place this form on your page to accept payments. You can edit the form to include additional info or make a call to it via a web service. You can also apply CSS styling or swap the button for an image to better fit with your sites style.) ?

I'll give them a ring again tomos and find out more about Url parameters for you?

Re: forum mods - help

Hugo <Nabble>
What you want is complex because the Nabble form would be submitted to the impulsepay website. This includes the subject, the message, and all other relevant information. So impulsepay would have to send everything back to Nabble to complete the process. I think it would be easier if users see the impulsepay website when they click on the "New Post" link. Then they get forwarded back to Nabble after finishing the payment. Even in this case it is not so simple because users could cheat by going directly to the success URL given to impulsepay. I will think more about this. If you have ideas, please let me know.
