Hello,
Since yesterday every post, reply and admin deletion on Wikipedate Forum (forum.wikipedate.com) fails with Error 500: Message: NAML exception in customized site: org.apache.lucene.store.LockObtainFailedException: Lock obtain timed out: NativeFSLock@/Users/administrator/nabble/nabble/local/lucene/531/write.lock RequestURI: /template/NamlServlet.jtp Server: s1.nabble.com Posts seem to be saved anyway, so users resubmit and we now have many duplicates. I cannot delete them or the spam. The stack trace involves only core Nabble macros (delete_node.naml, utilities.naml), not our custom code. Could you please clear the stale lock or rebuild the index? Thanks |

Hello,
I can confirm that I am experiencing the same technical issue on my Nabble forum: http://multi-forum.217.s1.nabble.com/ I am getting Error 500 when trying to create new topics, publish replies, delete posts or ban users. My forum logs contain numerous occurrences of the following exception: org.apache.lucene.store.LockObtainFailedException: Lock obtain timed out The exception occurs during the create_child_of_page_node operation on s1.nabble.com. It affects various operations, including creating posts, editing and deleting content, and managing users. Some friends of mine who also run Nabble forums are experiencing similar difficulties. Their forum is hosted at 358.s1.nabble.com. This suggests that the issue may affect multiple forums hosted on the same Nabble server. Could the Nabble team please investigate this issue and let us know whether it can be fixed? At the moment, it is preventing us from properly managing our forums, particularly from removing spam. I would also like to take this opportunity to share a few thoughts about Nabble. I understand that Nabble forums are no longer actively developed, but I would really appreciate it if existing forums could continue to function properly. It would be a shame if a technical problem like this made them unusable. I recently looked at several alternative services for creating free forums, and I have to admit that Nabble still stands out in terms of its intuitive administration panel, simplicity and clarity. It was a genuinely good and user-friendly product. It is a pity that Nabble is no longer being developed. I believe many people would still be willing to pay a reasonable, competitive fee for a properly maintained and reliable version of the service. In my opinion, the product itself was good. Perhaps its main weaknesses were marketing and the lack of further development. Features such as HTTPS support and convenient online payment options could potentially have helped make the service sustainable. I hope there is still a possibility of fixing the current technical issue, even if no new features are being developed. Thank you for your time and for any help you can provide. |
