To lock a topic: (you must be logged in as Admin)

On the given topic, top right next to 'x messages' click the 'options' link to reveal its menu. choose 'lock topic'.

To prevent posting non categorised topics on parent page: (you must be logged in as Admin)

on the parent page click 'options' (top left) next to the 'people' menu.
From its menu, choose 'Users' then 'Change permissions'

Untick the boxes for the groups (aka Members ) next to 'Create topic' & 'reply"

If you have already altered settings here, change the dropdown box from 'default' to 'Custom' in order to do the above.

On the main page of each of your forums, where you wish to allow those folk to post new topics...

click 'options' choose 'users' then 'change permissions'

You may need to change the dropdown box from 'inherit' to 'custom'
then tick those same boxes to allow posting for the given groups.

I would suggest that whatever you do, always start at the parent / outermost layer of Nabble, because, as Camo says, characteristics are inherited.

So as Admin and with the parent page open, select Options > Users > Change permissions, and leave blank ALL groups who are NOT allowed to Create a Topic under this application... but also consider the other actions that you may not want users to be able to perform.

Note that you will have to change this on successive pages when / if you want users to start creating topics, because permissions are inherited.
