Is it posslbe to have This LAYOUT!? And if so how? Thank you Very much!

How do i make another subcategory? (more than 2)?
|
But... i want more subcategories.. not sub forums..
|
yes make the sub forums go to options > manage sub categorys and change the application to a category....
and inside that category make a subforum thats how you do it. If you still cant do it, make a admin on your forum with all the info needed, i will handle it for you and then you can remove me from admin , i have done this for several other people aswell. |
I also have this exact same problem
|
It looks like I am trying to do the same thing as mentioned here..
Here's my question I see you posted this above. "Board> Category > Forum" Then I click on "Start a free forum" Then it goes to "Nabble Start Your Forum".. where I sign in. THEN I get a page and all it says is "New Topics" "Topic Views" "People" and "Options". I don't see anyplace where I can click on BOARD, CATEGORY or FORUM. I don't see any other options to build a forum. Any way you can show me if I am in the wrong place... or exactly what is going on. THANK |

It depends exactly what aspect of the image is supposed to be replicated, but Echo16's example looks to me to be best achieved by using a MIXED forum application type. That will produce the named "subcategories" that you see.
At further levels down, Nabble shows folder Icons against the "sub forums" and there's no way that I know to duplicate the sub-forum descriptive texts.

The app type that Echo16 wants is BOARD at the top level, and CATEGORY at the second level. Levels below that can be anything (FORUM, GALLERY, etc).

oh.. OK got ya.. thanks
(not complaining here.. but wanted to pass this
along)
Unfortunately I am having LOTS of problems with the
nabble web site...
First I go and sign up (register).. then I go to set up
my forum.
At the very beginning it have just the 'basic' (pretty
much nothing)
AT the top it has the "click here" button, and it doesn't
have the forum really "built" yet.
The site takes you to a page that says something like
"Make your free forum"
Then you click on that and it asks for your name, and
password all over again.
I put that in and it won't accept it... or it tells me
that password is NOT in the data base.
Now... I am confused how my password and ID isn't in the
data base.. when I already signed up... I got the email that had the link to
complete the sign in process, etc
Funny how my email can't be in the data base when it just
sent me an email.
I have had to 'register' about 10 times to try to keep
getting into the site. When I click on login.. I get the page that wants
me email addy, and password... and I get caught in the loop again that says my
email is not in the data base.
Not once have I made my forum,.. and then been able to
made the embedded HTML so I can copy it and paste it in my web site
It has gotten very frustrating.
SO I kind of feel like I can't do anything because it
never makes the code for me to embed.
ALSO.. the site often has problems with it not
making the check boxes, buttons, etc appear on the screen.
One example is when you register... it has a place when
you have to 'check' that you agree with the terms & conditions... 1/2 the
time that ox isn't there (after a while I figured you had to "assume" it was
there,.. and I clicked on 'nothing' where the box should be, and I got in.
No telling how many folks can't figure to do that.
Also when you go into the options.. click on options, and
then it takes you to where it has "Boards, forum, etc etc. Those little
buttons 1/2 the time don't show up either,.. so you can't click on
anything..
I think you folks have a good web site.. but I also think
that before anyone gets the idea of 'charging" for service... someone should get
the 'basics" figured out and make it easy (and functional) for people to
use.
IMO if it is too hard to use,.. and no one can get
much support when it is free.... I doubt they'll have any confidence things will
get better just because they pay. In short you have to show people they
can have confidence in the web site, and what you have to offer.. before anyone
is going to shell out cash for something.
Just my 2 cents.
If you can figure out how I can get in without having to
sign in over and over again.. and how to make it NOT tell me my email isn't
in the data base.. I'd be interested if trying again. But right now it's
way to frustrating
Thanks for your help
Chris

Silly Me!
When I tested the Category application, I only had topics within that level. Adding a sub-forum with a short description field does, indeed, produce the desired effect. (As close as I could get to Embarrassed!)
