Approval for registerer usesr

Is there a process I can use to approve registered users on my forum. So users dont automatically become registered unless I  approve?

No i don't think so.

But you can put them as members, and then change the View: (Pictue below)

Navigate: Option >> User >> Change Permission

I want to avoid them posting in my forum.

You need to start using the "Members" group.
