I have 4 questions.
1. How to post VIDEOS in Topics or Replies? 2. How to post IMAGES in Topics or Replies? 3. How to post AUDIO, such as soundcloud, in Topics or Replies? 4. How to make a Topic sticky? There is no Option or icon to do this on my forum. Many thanks for this cool forum! Any help will be greatly appreciated! devenlane |
Hi devenlane,
1. To add videos you can upload a file(more > upload a file) or you can embed from youtube(take a look to the instructions in the "embed" option when posting). 2. When creating a new post you can use the Insert Image button. 3. I'm not sure, but you can always upload an audio file with the upload a file option. 4. Open a topic and go to Options(top-right). There is an option called pin topic. :) Helper |
Thank you so much. I see those options when I am on my forum at the Nabble site. But the forum I embedded on my Blogger site doesn't have that Edit Box. On my site you only have the the option to Post a (text) Topic. The Options only show Email and Subscribe options. The embed code I copied when I created my forum just gave me a basic forum. No edit box, no option for stickies etc. Love the forum though! It's great. But I run a music sharing site and need my users to be able to post videos and audio from time to time for discussion purposes. Thanks so much for your speedy reply BTW!

First of all, are you sure you are logged as adminsitrator?
About audio stuff, wait until a nabble member see this post, maybe there is a way to do this. As always, glad to help :) :) Helper |
OMG I feel so stupid! I wasn't logged in and I also didn't realize that until a user is registered they don't have access to the full edit box. That just leaves me with the Stickies questions. I can't see a way to sticky a welcome guide at top of the forum. Thanks for your help! I've set up my forum on a test blog so I can fool around testing audio embeds.
Yay! TY. Devenlane |

Don't you see the option "pin topic" in the options(top-right) of a topic? what options do you see? :) Helper |
Hi devenlane, As you've probably discovered, Sound cloud widgets can be embedded with the site's supplied code. However, you need to check the box: "Message is in HTML format" when you post the code. The only issue is that you then need to wrap the message text in the appropriate HTML tags to achieve appropriate spacing of the text. I just tried this example: <iframe width="100%" height="166" scrolling="no" frameborder="no" src="https://w.soundcloud.com/player/?url=http%3A%2F%2Fapi.soundcloud.com%2Ftracks%2F99424489&color=ff6600&auto_play=false&show_artwork=true"></iframe>and achieved this: I cheated a little and only used the opening < p> tag when I wanted space out the paragraphs. Click the "Reply" button, then the "Quote" button and you'll see my raw code for this reply. I've got one (non-Nabble) question! Where is the volume control on this Soundcloud widget? If a user must be registered to access the full edit box, then it means you have played with the User Permissions. By default literally "Anyone" should see it. You probably removed the mark from that checkbox and placed one in the "Registered" column. To amplify LouK's latest answer... You will only have access to the "Pin Topic" option when logged in as an administrator. You will then also have access to: Options > Structure > Manage pinned topicswhich allows you to control the order when multiple topics are pinned.

Sorry for late reply, but thank you SO much for your help! I really needed to know about the Soundcloud embeds, Greg, and now I can do it! And thanks LouK for responding so quickly to my questions.
