transferring from phpBB forum to Nabble

JulieDonnelly
Hi,

My website is currently using the phpBB forum. We've had problems with the forum off-and-on many times through the years and currently it has disappeared from my website.  I'm praying that it will be found again as there are thousands of messages on the site.

Meanwhile, I've been told good things about Nabble and would like to explore using your service.  My primary question is, can we transfer the current forum messages (assuming I will be able to find them) to Nabble?

Is all support for Nabble done via messages?  Will we get a phone number to call in an emergency?

Thank you,
    Julie Donnelly

I'll leave Pedro to respond to your technical queries, however, I can confirm that all support is through this forum and there is no telephone support service.

Messages posted in the main "Nabble Support" area get priority treatment, but there is a charge to use that area. For details attempt to post a New Topic there.

Thanks Greg.  I sure hope the messages can be imported from phpBB, although I wouldn't be surprised if that wasn't the case since I'm sure phpBB wants people to stay with them.  It's good to know that I get an answer so quickly on Nabble.

Hi,

This is a response I received from Nabble.  Meanwhile, did I send you the message I got on phpBB?  They said to check the permissions as the host may have done it.

Pedro
We only import messages compressed in mbox format.
Please, try to convert it to mbox and send us a request here http://support.nabble.com/Mbox-import-f7590796.html .

Hi Julie, if you were able to export the phpBB database of your forum, we could take a look and check how difficult it would be to import it into Nabble. Please let us know if you have the data available.
