I can only echo Gary's comments. When I discovered Nabble in 2010 it was an extremely useful product, with some additional features long removed. Technical support was excellent and free, if you could tolerate the adverts. Back then you could subscribe to "Premium Support" that got rid of the ads and gave you a priority forum that got near instant responses - with free users getting read-only access.
After about five years Google changed things and it was reported that Nabble income had dropped dramatically. Staff changes took place, and various alternative funding methods were tried but, it seems, none worked.
By the time the point came when the half dozen servers were reduced to one the writing was on the wall. It remained free, funded entirely out of Franklin's pocket. You have to thank him for being so generous, but from that point on it was a personal project and all meaningful support ceased.
If I have any complaint it's only that Franklin continued to allow new users onto the platform. I feel it would have been sensible to lock up the shop and be clearer to existing users, advising everyone to find an alternative service.
Snap! I remember 2010 well, which is when I used Nabble for the first time; for a news-oriented ezine to do with a popular mmorpg. There were no embedding or logging-in issues at all, whatever the browser and SSL was already widely used.
