Can't login to forum via web page it's embedded in

With great help from Israel, GregChapman and others, my forum now embeds into pages of my website without issue.  

However one slight problem is that I can only login via a direct link to the forum, but not via pages of my website.  If I click on 'Login' and then enter my email address and password, I'm simply returned to the page that the forum is embedded in, but I'm not actually logged in.

I've looked at the user permissions, but can't see anything that I should change that would prevent this.
