We delete inactive forums because it costs us money to host forums and we don't want to spend money on something that no one uses.  You should have gotten an email warning about your forum being deleted with a chance to stop it.  And even after it has been deleted, we keep a backup which we can restore if you post a link to the backup or to the original forum.
