You have a slight misunderstanding or are using terms loosely.
Registration of a user is completely out of your control. Any user can register. You cannot stop that, nor can you remove the registration of any user. All registration does is enter an email address in the user database associated with your forum.
You may be referring to adding your users to the "Members" group. This is a manual process that you do have control over. If you have "Members" of you forum then presumably you will also have set up appropriate "User Permissions" for them so only they can post.
When you enter an address in the "Invite Subscriber" screen they get sent an email that includes a link - just like a regular user visiting the forum and following the registration procedure. If they accept the invite they will click on the link in email and that makes them registered users of the forum. However,
in addition they are agreeing to be emailed every post made to your forum.
That does not make them "Members". If your forum is set up so only members may post then while a subscriber receives posts made they will not be able to post themselves - unless you add their email address to the "Members" group. You can do this at any time. If you do it before they accept the subscriber invitation or register themselves on the forum, then they will also get posting rights the instant they become recognised as "Registered".
