RE: Instant Email - new topics only

If I wanted to do this regardless of the subscription type (All Topics, New Topics, Instant mail or Digest) would I just remove this IF check?

<n.if.equal value1="[n.subscription_to_field.value/][n.subscription_type_field.value/]" value2="CHILDRENINSTANT">

And just have:
<n.page_node.descendants/>

I think this would be helpful as my members don't always get that subscribing themselves at the top level gives them emails all the levels.  When they don't see their subscription listed at the lower level they go subscribe there as well.  So having this automatically subscribe them at the lower levels would be great.
