So, as I understand there should be no problems with a thread that has several hundred posts in it, as long as it is viewed in Classical or List view. Is that correct?

On our forum users are not as worried about post counts being displayed, the bigger issue is having a way to jump to the first unread/new post on a thread. So, let me second that request.
