suggestion for Nabbles forum is so good, + it continues to co_evolve..

Hi,

how about considering;

when we make a post, it is so nice to beable to email the post, can you make this option come up again after we edit it, so when post comes up again it also will give option for emailing the corrections, or on to others.

thanks Nabble, Your tools are so good!

Nabble's architecture is flexible and is used both as a mail list and as various web-based applications (forum, blog, etc). This means that some people only read what's posted via Nabble in their email programs and others only use the web. These two methods are not entirely compatible. Mail users cannot accept edits to a previous post. The mail has already arrived and cannot be changed. Whereas, re-visits to a web site to see changed content is entirely normal and Nabble posts on the web include a comment indicating when they were last edited.

The correct process for an author who wishes to change a post that already appears on a forum or blog is to make the change and then post a new short message reporting that the original post has been amended with a link to the original post. The mail user then has the option of visiting the revised version of the post. That post can then be deleted from the web shortly after it is posted (Nabble sends out the email copies of posts in batches and there is a short delay between making a post on the blog and the email copy being posted out, so you must leave the post up for a few minutes to ensure the email copy has been despatched to subscribers.). That way subscribers get notification of the change and have a link to the revised version, while the blog doesn't get cluttered with messages about the entries that have been changed.

You must remember that while you may think of your use of Nabble as a blog or forum, any user can "subscribe" when, from their point of view, it changes into a mail list. You should learn to accommodate both types of user, or edit the NAML code behind your blog to stop users from being able to subscribe.
