spam member added itself to private forum

weezy
A couple of days ago there was some error loading Nabble to get to my forums (about 9:00 p.m. DST).  Once I did, I saw that a small private forum where all the members have admin powers had a spam thread in it (for Rx meds), and the permissions had been changed to allow registered users to add topics.  It had previously been set that only members and admins had that ability, and our registered user list matched our members list.   I un-checked all the registered user permissions and deleted the topic.  Last night, again around 9:00, same problem loading and immediately after, there was the same checkmark in the registered users column but no spam thread.  I un-checked it.

This a.m., I went and looked at the registered users list and parlabewell <abr.a.ka.dab.ra.b.eep@gmail.com> had added itself, and is not a member of our forum.  I tried to delete parlabewell  but it's a read-only list.  I have created a Banned Users group and put parlabewell on it, but would prefer to rid our forum of the bug in the first place that allowed this spambot to come in and change our settings, if possible.

Re: spam member added itself to private forum

Hugo <Nabble>
Thanks for reporting this. This is a strange case, so I will have to take a closer look. Do you have more admins that could have possibly let that user in? Another explanation could be a password that is easy to guess. If you are the only admin, please try changing your password. Please let me know if you have more details. It would be also easier for us if you can post a link to your forum.
