shortened post preview?

humblesuds
Is there a way to shorten the post previews shown on the landing page? Like a character limit? I want people to share my posts, but they won't know the option exists unless they click on the post title and visit the actual post. I hope that makes sense. They don't know they're not already viewing the full post!

You may find the "News" app is more to your liking.

By default, on the Front page (Nabble's name for the "Landing page") it limits the summary of the post to 500 characters. with a "Read more..." link.

Better still, it is also has a mechanism (Options > Application > Extras & add-ons > Content > Custom summary for Newspaper) to provide a customised summary of the post so it doesn't even have to replicate the first five hundred characters of the post. You can also use it to replace the default image (which is taken from the first image within the post) with one only seen in the summary shown on the Front page.

To remove the People table try the option at:

Options > Application > Change appearance > Preferences > Page Layout > Narrow

This removes the sidebar on both the  News and Blog apps.

Should you still wish to use the Blog app within the macros for the News app you will find code that makes it easy to see how to limit the length of the summary.
