disable posting to obsolete GNU Octave mailing lists?

John W. Eaton
Nabble mirrors several obsolete mailing lists for Octave.  They are marked as read only, but apparently people are still allowed to post messages, and the messages end up in the archive on nabble.com, but they are never posted to the actual Octave mailing lists.  Since the new messages appear in the archive on nabble.com, I think people are given the wrong impression about the mailing lists being inactive.  Is there some way to completely disable posting to these lists from nabble.com?

See http://nabble-support.1.n2.nabble.com/Disable-posting-for-obsolete-mailing-list-td4824414.html for previous request to make the archives read only.

Thanks!

How would the maintainers of Octave change permissions for the GNU Octave mailing lists on Nabble ?

There is an assumption that those who created, or have admin access, to the Nabble archive are those who control the mail list itself.

However, if the Nabble archive was created someone who has now abandoned interest in the mail list and does not respond to requests to change permissions on Nabble then there is a problem.

You would need to demonstrate to Nabble your legitimate interest the forum and request the appropriate changes be made, or even that a change of ownership is made.
