Hello,
in one of my projects, I use nabble's "workgroups" functionality, where topics/messages can be assigned to users. In order to be notified (via eMail) when a new "task" (i.e. topic) was created or somebody has added a new message within a subscribed existing topic, the general eMail subscription function can be used for notification. This works just fine. But, when using this general notification function (via deliberate subscription) causes ALL messages within the subscribed scope to be sent to ALL subscribed users, regardless of they being currently assigned or not. Is it possible to deactivate the general eMail subscription for a topic and at the same time ensure that only the respective assignee is notified (via eMail) when a new message is posted? This would ensure that the assigned user would definitely be informed via eMail without deliberately having to subscribe to a topic (which he does not even know at the time of its creation). As the assignee toggles when replying with an eMail, the new assignee would receive an eMail notification with practically no time delay. Thanks. |
Would it be enough if you create a sub forum only for work and keep the main page for subscribers?

Hmmm... I don't understand your question. It doesn't seem to solve my problem.
The main page is used for subscribers. When someone subscribes, I get an eMail notification so that I can change the subscriber's access rights by assigning the appropriate role (e.g. "members"). So he might have access to the "tasks" sub-forum, which I created just for the open task management. Within this sub-forum, a new topic is opened for each new open task and a "member" is assigned to be responsible for the solution of the new task. Any other suggestions? |
Your problem is that users that aren't in tasks forum are receiving the tasks subscription, right? You can create a new group, e,g, "task_user", set your permissions so that only this group can read the tasks forum. When you can add and remove members from this group as long as they need to do a task. A user will only receive a subscription from that sub forum if he is inside the group.

No. This is not my problem. I already set appropriate permissions for the group "members" using [Options] / [Users] / [ChangePermissions] within the "tasks" sub-forum. Doing so, I regard all "members" as permitted to read and write the "tasks" sub-forum. Users who are just "registered" but are not assigned to the "members" group will have no access to the "tasks" sub-forum. That's ok so far. My problem is that I don't seem to be able to configure a notification mechanism so that each eMail is sent only to the single assignee of a new message within the appropriate task (topic) within the "tasks" sub-forum. So, I don't want ALL possible subscribers of the "tasks" sub-forum to receive a notification eMail (which would be done via the subscription mechanism), but just a single notification eMail to the assignee of the new message. Sorry. The English language is very un-specific, especially when two non-native speakers try to communicate... ;-) |
Sorry, Pedro,
I just found out that the workgroup functions, which I had been missing, are present and working fine. Maybe I just ran into some unfinished configurations during the creation phase of the workgroup which led to missing eMail notifications for assignees. Or maybe I just got something wrong... Thanks so far. |
