;cid=xxx being attached to links in topics

masqcrew
I've read about the problems of CID in the forums, but as far as I can tell, none of them are the same problems I'm having.

The whole point of my forum is to share links of tweets with each other. When I try to add a link by just pasting the URL or by using HTML anchor tags, it adds the CID portion. The link obviously doesn't work. If you delete the CID portion manually and refresh the page, it works just fine.

From what I've read on the forums here, I'm pretty sure it is an embed problem. Something with third party cookies being disabled.

How do I fix this?

The problem doesn't happen with shortened URLs (at least at the moment), so unless there's a better fix, I'm going with that at the moment.

Besides, shortened URLs work better with the width of the forum. Full URLs don't fit without a scroll bar.

Either a similar problem has returned or it's the first time I have noticed this.

If I post a URL in my forum a link is generated. It works fine in Firefox and Internet Explorer, but fails generating a 404 error in Chrome (Chrome on my Android devices also fails). The problem is an addition to the URL in the form, ";cid=123456-123". If I delete this addition from the address bar then the link works fine.

Another user reports a similar issue. He's a Mac and iPad guy.

Are there settings in Safari and Chrome that a user can turn off to prevent this issue?
