I have created my forum and received an email thanking me for creating it and reminding me of the direct link to it.
I have tried to register it a million times and I never get any email with the link to confirm registration so I can log in and customize my forum. In order to post this on the support page I had to register and then I got an email in 10 seconds with the link to confirm I am registered with Nabble Support. But this doesn't let me log onto my forum account !?!?! I don't have a spam folder. So how do I register in order that I can log on and play with my forum ???? Thanks in advance, Stamp It Out |
This support account is different of your forum's account. You have to create two accounts to use the two forums.
Do you use a software like Outlook to manage your email account?

Hi Pedro,
Yes I use Outlook. Still no email to register my forum, but I did get an email to register for support ? A

Please, could you check in your online email account?

Other than this email - I have nothing from
Nabble.

You miss Pedro's point. Some mail providers have spam filtering software in place on their server and it keeps any mail it classifies as spam and does not forward it to your email program. Some of these filters misinterpret Nabble's confirmation email and place it the the spam folder associated with your mail account. You need to go to you mail providers web mail service and check the spam folder there.

Just going back to your original message, I realise Pedro and I may be missing something...
I am a little confused by this. The mail you have received giving the address of your forum should be sufficient for you to login to your forum and customise it. That mail implies that the address to which it was sent is already registered on the forum and set with Administrator permissions. You don't need to re-register at your forum (unless you wish to create a second test user using a different email address which you can set to have different permissions to your administrator account). You should be able to login and customise it using the mail address to which the new forum notification was sent and the password that you created when setting it up. It could help identify any problems/bugs if you post the URL of the forum.

Greg,
Have I got this all wrong then ?
After I created the forum I was sent an email
telling me it had been created. Should I not get another email with a link to
activate my account ?
I cannot login or register my forum using my email
address or password - it keeps telling me that they are unknown. I never receive
an email to activate my account and therefore can never log into my
account.
When I registered with Nabble Support I got an
email immediately giving me a link to activate my support account. Pedro tells
me that they are seperate entities.

First guess would suggest you have it wrong. As the creator of a forum, you get no other notification than the message you describe, notifying you that the forum has been established. You'll have supplied a User Name, Email address, Password, Forum Name and, optionally, a Description as well as choosing a language. The user name, email address and password is sufficient for Nabble to have registered you on your forum. No further registration is necessary. However, you do need to respond to that notification, by clicking the link found in it, in order to confirm that you entered your email address accurately. As already explained the email mentioned "an email to activate my account" is not part of the process for creating a new forum. Providing you have clicked the link in the notification that your new forum has been created you will already be registered as an administrator with the username, email and password you entered when creating the forum. They are separate entities, but both processes generate just one email from Nabble. There's a difference in the wording of each because in one case you are creating your own forum in another you are merely joining someone else's. But in BOTH CASES YOU NEED TO RESPOND TO THE EMAIL by clicking the link included in it. This is in order to demonstrate that you entered the correct email address. Have you clicked on the link in the message saying your forum has been set up? You must do that to register your username and password on your new forum and have it recognised when you later login. It seems that either you have not responded to the email telling you the forum has been created, or you made some (minor) error when creating the password for your forum and you are now entering the wrong one (using the SHIFT or CAPS LOCK differently when you login is the most likely difference) or there is a bug in the system. If you're sure you've done the two things you need to do (respond to the initial email and enter the correct details on login) then you need to post the URL of your forum so the Nabble team can investigate further.

Thanks for spending the time to go over the
registering process again, but let me make it very clear ...
I accept I created a forum - that creates an
unregistered account & forum. According to the set up instructions I
would then be sent an email with a confirmation link that would register my
account & forum and then I can log in to it and start customising it
etc.
I did not get this email - all I
got was an email telling me that the forum had been created. It did not have any
link to follow, but did remind me the name of my forum.
I cannot log in to the forum and when I try the
"forgotten password" section it states that my email address is an unregistered
account and that I should follow the registration link sent to me by
email.
Round and round we go.

Sorry, but I am out of ideas!
Please post the URL of the forum then one of the Nabble team should be able to investigate. You'll find that the Nabble team tend to slow to join in existing extended conversations, so it might be better start a new new topic stating the URL of the forum and describing again the symptoms. Also, bear in mind that this is primarily a support FORUM. There is no need to top-post your reply quoting, in full, every message to which you respond. It just clutters up the forum and makes it difficult for the Support team to see the new information you post.

Hi,
It's not necessary to create a new topic. I'm just waiting for his forum's link to start the investigation.

Pedro,
This is the screen I get after entering all my
details, email address, password etc ... Still no email in order that I can
complete the registration. I don't have a spam folder - everything comes into my
inbox unless I have specified to block an individuals email
address.

Registering...An email has been sent to you. Please follow the instructions in the email to complete the registration process. If you are not receiving emails from Nabble, please check your spam folder. |

This is the same challenge I have. Has there been any resolution?

Hi! I actually had a secondary Gmail account forwarding into my primary Gmail account...and on my case, the secondary Gmail accounts' Spam filter was flagging the Nabble registration email as SPAM. Of course then nothing was being forwarded into my primary Gmail account.... I only noticed this when I recall that in fact I had an Gmail account forwarding automatically *almost* everything into my primary account.... Cheers, Gizmo |
Lads,
I have the same email account that I have had for
years and I don't have a spam folder. Never had any issues in the past. I've
given up with trying to use the Nabble forum and deleted it from my
forum.
There is obviously something wrong with the set
up/registration process.
Thanks to everyone who
tried.
