Updated FAQ Requested

Camo
Hello, Im finding some instructions under Nabble help, are a little outdated. I would like to post on my forums, a complete FAQ (forum functions) for my forum's users, complete with images and links.
Even Im not sure how to use/find all functions avail to a forum member.

It would be great if Nabble could create Such a FAQ specifically for our users, that we could place a link to on our forums.

Meanwhile, If any existing Nabble user has managed to do this, would you please share? :)

Re: Updated FAQ Requested

Peter <Nabble>
There will be some work on documenting the features once templates, which are now our main priority, are done.
For now, you can look for the answers right here, on the support forum. There are a lot of questions already answered here.
If you don't find what you need, just ask and we will be glad to help.
Nabble staff. We never ask for passwords.

Re: Updated FAQ Requested

Camo
Peter,
one unresolved issue and a few questions

From here (ill close the thread below)
http://nabble-support.1.n2.nabble.com/Log-In-Log-Out-Issue-td6275886.html

Theres A New Problem Now Unfortunately.

My Two Separate Applications, are under me as admin with different registration details, also on different pages, aka

www.camosreptiles.com.au/classifieds.php  Admin= webmaster pass: x email: x

www.camosreptiles.com.au/forum.php   Admin= webguy  pass: y  email: y

If I log onto /classifieds, then open a new browser tab to /forum , I see myself shown as online as webmaster Clearing all browser data & cookies dont help. I have to log out (though I wasnt logged in)
And re log in.

When I re log in, then Im correctly shown as webguy.

Now if I switch tabs back to /forum my Admin options are gone.

Help? cant I be logged in both. They are definately seperate applications now.
Question, although my forums are new, Im afraid of nabbles garbage code.
How much notice do you receive of impending deletion?
Does this notice get emailed to you?
Does this notice appear on the forum itself?
If I store my generated backup archives on my own server will they work (can Nabble use them) if I need them?
I understand they only last a few days at nabble?
By what terms does Nabbles code determin 'Garbage'?
I.E Activity below a given threshold, or No activity at all for given period.
by what terms does Nabble define 'inactivity'? I.E lack of post or admin acivity, or lack of veiws?

Last Question, I read This...
You may have seen some embeddable widgets, but Nabble's "embeddability" is far more advanced. A widget runs in a fixed frame, making the content either underflows or overflows (frame scrolling is your only option). In contrast, a Nabble embeddable app adjusts its height automatically and always fit seamlessly into your site.
Could you explain this for me, Do I need The scrollable Div Im using? Look here!

This post was updated on .
Also, Question about Post By Email Function.

I understand that 'post By Email' addresses are unique to each member, but Im wondering if they are
only generated 'on the fly', e.g...
Each time a user clicks to gain a 'Post by email' address for a given forum or subforum, the address is new and only valid for that log in session? OR...
If a given member generates a 'Post by email' address for each forum and subforum, and adds those to his/her email address book, will they work every time?

Yes, the email will always work and is permanent for that user. But you should note that each node has its own email address. For example, the email to post a new topic is different from the email to post a new reply (under a given post). So when it comes to bookmarking emails, maybe you should do this only for the email that creates new topics. Other emails shouldn't be bookmarked because they will place the message under a different node.

To be logged in on both forums, please change your browser's configuration to always allow third-party cookies.

You shouldn't be afraid of this code if you read your emails weekly. First of all, your forum will only be scheduled for deletion if it doesn't get visited often. In that case, you will receive an email asking you to visit the forum and click on the "Don't delete this forum" button. Any user can click on that button, so your visitors can help saving your forum. The button is available for at least 30 days, so you have enough time to save your forum. If your forum gets deleted, you can send us your backup files and we can restore it for you. If you don't have those files, then we won't be able to do anything.

You don't need the scrollable div. You can remove it just to see how it looks. So it is up to you leaving it or not.
