There's a lot of loose use of the terms "send", "post" and "reply" there and no distinction between when you are using your email program and when you are using the forum/archive and whether you are logged in there.

My best guess is that you have been used to using the mail list conventionally via you email program and have now discovered Nabble's archive of the mail list.

Many people are not aware of the distinction of being a subscriber to a mail list and a user of the archive.

Nabble is a subscriber to the mail list. It never posts to the mail list. All it does is post the the messages it receives through its subscription on the forum/archive.

To post on the archive you need to become a registered user of the archive, but all that allows you to submit post. When you submit a post Nabble will generate an email, apparently from your Nabble registered address, and it forwards that to the mail list (where it should be processed and distributed to subscribers, including Nabble, which then adds it to its archive as a new forum post).

The most common problem is that archive users either fail to subscribe to the mail list itself or register on the archive using a different address to that of their mail list subscription. In either case you get a warning message from Nabble saying that your post is being held by Nabble as it is not being accepted by the mail list.

I suspect you are getting one of those, or a similar warning, either because you are not properly registered at Nabble or are not registered with an address that matches your mail list subscription.

I'm a little unclear about your problem. Maybe you aren't describing the problem fully.

You say you are replying by email (i.e. not via the Nabble site) in that case this is not a Nabble problem for the reasons I explained in my  previous reply. To confirm this it would help if you post the full message that you receive when attempting to post as that might make it clear which server is generating the response.

If this is not a Nabble problem then you need to raise your query with the folk at Freeradius. Before you do that you need to check out all their guidance at:
http://freeradius.org/list/users.html

A further concern, but not apparently one that need concern us here, is that the Freeradius site (http://freeradius.org/list/users.html ) offers two archives of its mail lists but neither are Nabble based, so that begs the question about whether the Nabble archive is officially supported by FreeRadius - especially given that the Nabble archive was created by a member of Nabble staff, rather than a member of the FreeRadius team.

Re: Unable to reply my own thread!

Pedro,

I see that the Freeradius archive clearly states, "This is a read-only archive -- You can only post messages by email." and that presumably means by a mail to freeradius-users@lists.freeradius.org (which is what I presume kostcity22 is doing when he says he is posting by email).

However, while I see that there is no "New Topic" link on the home page of the archive, when one goes to an individual topic, such as the most recent by kostcity22, you do see a "Reply" link against each post. That is an inconsistency that probably needs to be addressed for all mail archives - or is it that Hugo only removed the "Create_topic" permission and not the "Reply" on this archive?

(As a non-registered user, I get the standard Login screen when I click a reply link. I didn't explore further than that.)

I'm apologizes for not describing the problem clear! When I send an email to  [hidden email] , after a while the email will appear here http://freeradius.1045715.n5.nabble.com/ , when someone post a reply to my email, it also gone to appear here http://freeradius.1045715.n5.nabble.com/ as reply to my question. But neither I can reply throught the Nabble application and neither I can reply to the response email that come to inbox, because after a while I am getting delivery failure notification and that email said that I have no permission to reply to the email.

Sorry for my bad english!
Thanks for your time and attention!

I think I now understand!

One question...

Are you attempting to reply to a message you receive FROM NABBLE after you subscribed to a topic or the whole list at Nabble?

If your answer is "NO, I always post to the freeradius.com address", then this is a problem at Freeradius and you must approach them.

If your answer is YES then getting a message that you cannot post is to be expected. The Nabble archive is a read-only archive and does not allow posting to the Mailman list which it archives. It will not forward mail you send to Nabble on to the Mailman list for processing.

You should only reply to posts that are sent to you direct from the Freeradius mailman list - not those from Nabble.

Because Nabble is a read-only archive, I would recommend that you unsubscribe from any posts or lists on on the archive. Use it only for tracking old topics that took place before you subscribed to the Mailman list. Instead conduct all conversations via email direct through the Mailman server.
