Strange problem with image link in "Insert Image"

Mintrax
I am trying to copy an image location into "insert image". The link is http://the-rv-lithium-project.2301966.n4.nabble.com/file/n4641058/DSCF0043_%28Small%29.jpg

Strangely I get an error "Upload failed: Unsupported image type - please use PNG, JPG or GIF."

The link clearly ends in .jpg

Am I missing something?

PS The link does display the image in my browser

It doesn't show in mine! I just get sent to your login screen! However, I am getting the same error as you when I copy in that URL to the "Insert Image" dialogue although I can use the technique with other images on my own test forum.

As a matter of interest what happens if you post in the code from the post where it appears originally. i.e. go to the original post and choose the edit option. There the code will be in this form:
<nabble_img src="sample.jpg" border="0" class="center" alt="My Image"/>
(though, depending on the options you chose when uploading it, may not have all those parameters)

Simply posting that form of link into the edit box works happily on my forum. As the image is already uploaded to your forum's file folder (as evidenced by the full URL) that should work as well. If it doesn't then reporting the result might help the Nabble team track down the problem.

Hi Greg, Thanks for the reply.

The image would not display in your browser because it is a private forum.

If I try to get the image code from the original post (which is not my post) it says "File was not uploaded: Series_parallel_battery2.jpg (please upload again or remove the tag) "

In simple terms the link should work as it works in my browser and has the extension .jpg.

This is where I get annoyed, I now have to pay support to report what is most likely a bug, particularly if I want it attended to with some haste.

Regards

Michael

I recognise that. I only mentioned the login screen to indicate that I was unable fully to replicate the problem with your particular image.

Now, I have seen that message before. When I have, I realise that I had removed the image and it would no longer be there.

I have just tested taking images from other people's images on a Nabble forum and successfully linked to them in completely unrelated forums, so the technique you used should work.

Indeed it should, providing the image is still there and you new error message suggests that it isn't. I just wonder if it has been removed and when you say you can see it, it is because your browser is only fetching it from its cache and not the Nabble server. That wouldn't excuse the original error message, of course, which does suggest there is either a bug or, more likely, an inadequate library of error message responses.

The obvious work around is to do what the new error message suggests. Save the image locally, and re-upload it.

I am sure the Nabble team will investigate the issue in due course.

Hi Greg,

The images are definitely on the nabble server. They have not been deleted.

Tried with a few different images, same result, saying must be jpg etc.

Will wait and see if Nabble do something about it.

Thanks again.

Regards

Michael

Hi Pedro,

None of the images on the forum work, I always get not .jpg image etc. But all display in browser.

Are you trying to insert the images by copying these urls? If so, it might not working because your forum is private. So, you can save the image in your pc and then upload it using the "Insert Image" button.
