I am still having troubles understanding how the ranking system works?  Please dumb it down a bit and explain to those that don't understand, thank you.

There isn't a ranking system built into Nabble.

You need to edit the NAML code that controls how a Nabble forum is displayed and add the feature yourself. Editing NAML code is only really intended for those who know a little bit about computer programming. Although you can pay for Premium Support and the Nabble Team will provide better support on the changes required.

though, I accept the documentation is a little thin at present.
