Quick sub-forum question

sferrel
I searched through the list of topics for sub-forums, but couldn't find an answer to this (hopefully) quick question:  Do the names of sub-forums have to appear on the main forum page, or can they somehow be hidden?  On my forum about guinea pigs, I really don't want "This Little Piggie Story Time!" to show up on the main page:

Thanks!

They don't have to appear - but there are some significant limitations.

In my tests I have found the following to be true.

Providing:
• The top level app is either "Mixed" or "Category".
• The app to be hidden is a child of the top level of your forum and NOT lower in the structure.
• You turn on "Smart Application Pages" (at: Options > Application > Extras & add-ons > Content - but read the note there!)
• You remove the User Permission for "View" from those groups you don't want to see it.

Then the app will not appear to those users who don't have the "View" permission.

So in your case, which appears to have a top-level "Cartegory" app, it would appear you need to go to your "This Little Piggie Story Time!" forum and select:
Options > Structure > Change parent
and paste in the URL of your top-level forum.
(You'll probably want to set up a test user with membership of the appropriate groups to test this!)
Volunteer Helper - but recommending that users move off the platform!

Hi,
That sounds a little confusing, but I think I understand what you're saying. Will give that a try. I know I played around with 'hidden' forums when I first set up the board, and it didn't seem to work correctly. This may not. I may just end up giving "Story Tiime" its own forum, if it's going to show up as a sub-forum, anyway. :)

Thanks!
