Some friends just registered on my forum. (Well, I registered them as a test, on their behalf.) Here is the email 'welcome' they got from Nabble:
"Dear Mycroft, John Yeoman has added you as a new member of "Writers' Village Forum". http://n3.nabble.com/Writers-Village-Forum-f213250.html Members of this forum don't have special privileges. This definition of membership may be changed by the forum administrators at any time" Wow, isn't that the chilliest welcome anyone ever received? What a sales killer! Could Nabble please delete those last two brutal sentences, which serve no purpose whatever? A simple "Welcome!" would suffice as a sign-off... |
Thanks for the feedback. We have improved that message and it will look better after the next release (which should happen in the next 24 hours). Here is how it will look:
This message will be fully configurable when we release the templates feature. So you will be able to add the text you want. |
Thanks, Hugo
Your response time is awesome. The new message is
a great improvement. Well done!
Best wishes

Dear Hugo
May I beg your help on this question, which
I recently put to Tanveer in response to his saying that my storage
capacity is just '5mb'. I'm sure the answer would
interest all ambitious Nabble users:
>I have to choose quickly between using Nabble
or Lefora (etc) on a new site for academics. Nabble is clean and
easy to use but... a '5mb storage capacity' per forum is a misprint,
isn't it? It equates to about 150 threads. That's just three week's activity at
a busy site. Did you mean 5gb?
1. If you did mean 5mb, what happens when the
limit is exceeded? Does the forum seize up? Are the old threads then archived?
Are they still accessible to members?
Based upon my existing site, I expect my new site
to get around 4000 hits in the first month rising to 10,000 per month.
My forum traffic will be immense.
2. Can Nabble cope with such unlimited
threads if I pay a fee? Is a payment option possible, for the storage size
per forum to be increased to, say, 5gb?
I would rather pay upfront now than sweat to
create a site, only for Nabble to change its policy and vandalise my
site with hideous ads in lieu of a fee :)
3. Is the 5mb limit per forum? If so, could I
create many different forums (or sub-forums), each having a 5mb
capacity?
Any help you could shed, would be
welcome.
Best wishes
Dr Nigel Robinson

Hi Hugo, I want to be able to send this type of email automatically as well. Please how do I go about doing this as currently new users on my forum don't get any emails after they are registered. Also can I edit the content of the email if possible. Thanks!
