Paying to remove ad's

I would like to subscribe to stop seeing ad's on our message board.  It says $3.95 - and asks for a card number.  Is there another way to pay for this service other thru my message board?  I thought I read on one of the support forums that paypal would be accepted but I have never been asked in a message board for my credit card #.  Thanks...
