Password Protect a Folder

MrMatthew
Is there a way to password protect a folder. I've made 2 folders; one named "men only" and the  other "women only" and I want to be be able to refuse the men to have access to the "women only" folder and vice-versa. Is this possible?

Setting a password is not necessary to restrict access. Instead create user groups "men" and "women" (OPTIONS > USERS > MANAGE USERS & GROUPS) and assign your registered users to the appropriate group, then set permissions to restrict access according to their group.

You can make the inappropriate folder invisible to members of those groups that should not see it (OPTIONS > USERS > CHANGE PERMISSIONS), or merely prevent them from posting. It is even possible to allow "anyone" or "registered" users to see that the male and female folders exist (but not allow them access), but once the user is assigned a gender then to make the other folder invisible.

Thank you. I have went in and set up groups and set permissions. I've even hidden the women's folder from the men group and vice versa. Thanks again. I hope this works out good.

Do set up a dummy male and female user for yourself to check that things are as you intend.

To get sub-forums to hide properly you may need to set the SMART APPLICATION PAGES option at:
OPTIONS > APPLICATION > EXTRAS & ADD-ONS > CONTENT
