I've been searching the web for a software package that incorporates my listserver groups into a forum, and forums generate back to the listserver. I.E. I post a email to my listserv, using mailiman. The subject line is taken and creates a forum based upon that subject line. All replies on the forum, are also automatically sent out like an email, and all emails replying to that subject, are included in the thread for that forum.
I have researched so many programs, but none could do this without an extreme cost. So is there somewhere I can purchase a standalone copy of nabble to install on my own server? Do I have to run Nabble off your server? using your url, or can I somehow incorporate my url into yours. Do i have to have advertising? Can I pay a fee to avoid that from occuring? Are there any of you that can answer and maybe assist me in this project. If it requires your expertise, I'd be willing to pay, I just want a product that I pay for. Nabble has the features, it appears, but I need additional things as well. I wish Nabble had a better explanation of what their product is. I'm not a geek, so I had a hard time understanding. Hi Richard,
Your search is over. Nabble can do that! I think everything that you asked has been answered many times on this forum or is in Nabble's various help pages. It is always best to use it's search facility. However... No! Yes! No! You can either point your own domain name at your Nabble forum or you can embed your Nabble forum in an independent web site of your own. No and Yes, respectively! Most enhancements you are likely to ask for over the standard product can be achieved either by you making the necessary changes to the NAML code that generates the forum, or by paying for Premium Support and ask the Nabble team to implement it for you. If they believe it would be a popular request, it may become incorporated into the standard product, which is constantly having minor tweaks made to it. I accept that formal documentation is weak - but that's because it is under constant development. It's best to create a forum, play with it, and then, if you run into problems, search for an answer in this forum. In 90% of cases you should find one. As a last resort, post a specific question. General hints such as "need additional things" won't get you meaningful answers.
