My posts are always pending

mmn007
Hello,

I have been a member of Dojo Toolkit community for a while now. I have been posting and getting responses as well. Suddenly since yesterday, my posts are seen in Pending posts. Whatever I do I am unable to get the post to show up outside of pending.

I even deleted my whole account and recreated it. Still the same issue. Can you please let me know if I am missing something here?

Regards,

Has this problem cured itself? I see several recent posts from your id (and similar ones) on the list archive at:
http://dojo-toolkit.33424.n3.nabble.com/

It looks as if the list itself went down for a period, and it wasn't a Nabble issue.

I do not think so. I still have one post outstanding shown in the pending list. It is 1 hr 15 mts already. Usually they take maximum 5 mts to get it posted.
Other people are able to post and get replies. When I try to subscribe again Nabble sends me an email saying already subscribed. So I am not sure what is wrong.

It is possible Nabble has a temporary problem despatching mail to the mail list, perhaps because of a server issue. Traffic can also be held up elsewhere on the Internet as it is passed to the mail list's server.

Are they posting via Nabble or through their mail program?

No surprise there!  :-)

I think they are posting via the browser as well. It is only my posts which seem to be getting held up. Over the last night some 20 people have posted and I can see responses for them as well.

Noticed one strange thing though. I posted many times to figure out what was going wrong, effectively creating a minor spam. One of the folks (who have permissions to see everything), posted a reply and my post went through. I replied to that and that post is still pending.

So are you saying that if I send a mail to the list, I will not run into this problem and will get posted?

Update : looks like my pending post is posted as well now. I will check out again and see if I am running into the same issues.

On the basis of your description of the issue, I suspected the most likely cause was that traffic between Nabble to the mail list servers got queued somewhere on the journey, by a server that was nor performing normally and was suffering an overload. Such disruption would typically not last more than a few hours, could be intermittent in nature while it lasted and would typically clear itself. Posting direct to the mail list from your own computer would use a different, and shorter, route, so might by-pass the problem server.
