My Nabble forum is not loading up. http://what-improvements-do-you-want-from-our-hiv-sector.4418870.n2.nabble.com/
Embedded at http://www.koaia.net/forums.html
All was working fine before I went on holiday 2 weeks ago. Just returned to find it down and have noticed quite a few other Nabble users posting this problem on the Nabble Support page. It looks like theirs have been fixed, however, following their posts, whereas mine is still offline.
Please help.
This is quite urgent because one of the threads has, in my absence, been marked ‘Scheduled for deletion’ and if I can’t log in to it to stop this happening I will lose months of archived hard lobbying by a dedicated group of people working towards a vital cause.

Your forum is loading up fine for me (embedded or not). Please clear your browser cache and try again.
|
Re your seggestion, Hugo, I have just cleared my cache and still get this message in my browser when I try to open my forum:
"The requested URL could not be retrieved" It is not loading. |
Please force a refresh on the page (press F5) and see if it loads. If you still have problems, you can try another browser (e.g., firefox, Internet Explorer, Safari, Chrome, etc.). Please let me know if you still have issues.
|
I have hit F5 refresh and still it won't load. Am using Internet Explorer (have never used anything else).
|
Which version of Internet Explorer do you use?
|
Internet Explorer 8.
When I try to open the forum non-embedded, the browser screen says repeatedly:
"While trying to retrieve the URL: http://what-improvements-do-you-want-from-our-hiv-sector.4418870.n2.na/
The following error was encountered:
Unable to determine IP address from host name for what-improvements-do-you-want-from-our-hiv-sector.4418870.n2.na
The dnsserver returned:
DNS Domain 'what-improvements-do-you-want-from-our-hiv-sector.4418870.n2.na' is invalid: Valid name, no data record of requested type.
This means that:
The cache was not able to resolve the hostname presented in the URL.
Check if the address is correct."
When I try to open the forum on the embedded page, it just gets as far as the 'loading' message and then freezes up and goes no further.

FYI, Hugo, I get the same fault:
" The webpage "what-improvements-do-you-want-from-our-hiv-sector.4418870.n2.na" cannot be found DNS error occurred. Server cannot be found. The link may be broken. " ... etc. I'm using Firefox in Vista. |
I can't reproduce this problem, so it is difficult to understand what is going on. Based on the information you posted, I see that the nabble URL has been truncated. It should end with "...n2.nabble.com", but it ends with "...n2.na". Maybe you could change the name of the forum to make the URL shorter and see if it works. If this solves the problem and you really want the name to be that big, I will give you some tips later. For now, please try that and let me know if this solution works.

Hugo, thanks for your suggestion but I am unable to shorten the forum title because I am unable to access it to do so.
How do you suggest I access the forum to try shortening the title? (it has worked perfectly well for four months without being shortened, up until now). |
As you posted in the first message, your forum is accessible from this link:
http://what-improvements-do-you-want-from-our-hiv-sector.4418870.n2.nabble.com/ Please try changing the forum name to something shorter. |
I did not post in the first message that my forum is accessible from that link. On the contrary - I posted in the first message that I cannot open the forum either embedded or non-embedded, hence my problem.
(Have you also noticed another poster in this discussion having exactly the same problem using another browser?)
So, I repeat my question to you - how do you suggest I access my forum to shorten its title?
PS This is the message I get when I try to open that link:
"The requested URL could not be retrieved.
While trying to retrieve the URL: http://what-improvements-do-you-want-from-our-hiv-sector.4418870.n2.na/

I renamed that forum to something shorter, see:
http://improvements-from-our-hiv-sector.4418870.n2.nabble.com/ I believe something is wrong with your computer or internet connection. If possible, please open the command DOS and type this: ping what-improvements-do-you-want-from-our-hiv-sector.4418870.n2.nabble.comWhat kind of result do you get? |
I get this result from typing your suggested text into the command DOS:
‘PING’ is not recognized as an internal or external command, operable program or batch file
|
...Meanwhile, your shortening of the title does seems to have made the forum accessible to me on Internet Explorer 8 now, thanks, Hugo.
I can access it both embedded and non-embedded.
(Can't really see why it was accessible to me for four months with the original forum title?)
|
I'm glad it is working now.
We changed the URL format since then. The new format works for all users. You were the first one to have problems with it and I am not sure why. |
Thank you Hugo, but as you can see by the posts, above I was not the ONLY person to have problems with it, I was just the first to report them. |
