As far as I know Nabble has no mechanism for recording that a message has been read. What happens is that any visited link is displayed in a different colour, in way that any link does by default in any browser - unless the page author sets the CSS to disregard visited status.

I suppose you could edit your forum's CSS so that links are displayed in the same colour whether read or not. However, that could not be done on an individual user basis, so you'd force everyone else to have the behaviour that you want for yourself. That may not be welcome by others!
