I really like the ability to Embed a Nabble forum on my webpage.
Instead of showing All topics can I set the embed code to display a specific topic? For example, I may create a WebPage called "Family Holiday Traditions" . I could then create a topic in the forum called "What are your family traditions?" and embed the forum page specific to that topic. Is this possible? |
There's nothing to stop you having a forum with a single topic and embedding that.
It's easy enough to stop people creating additional topics, only giving them permission to reply to the existing one that you create.

I had thought of that. But I would also like to retain the forum in its entirety. Also there could potentially be dozens of topics. If I could simply set the starting page of the embedded forum, that would do the trick.

I don't understand your thinking.
If you embed the starting page, then the links there to the sub-forums mean that you cannot avoid users going to other areas of the forum - and if you remove those thinks (which is possible) then, effectively you're back to the solution I propose. You'll need to explain further why you are not prepared to have two forums. One for your special page and one for everything else. After all, you can insert descriptions and links of the general forum in your single topic forum, so that people could move one way but not back to the special page.

Lets say, for example, that my website features a "Project of the Week" . This week our users are going to make ornaments, next week pillows.
I create a webpage for making ornaments. I want feedback on how everyone is coming on their project so embed the forum topic for "Ornament Project Discussion" at the bottom of my Ornament Project webpage. In this area, I only want to show posts relating to the "Ornament Project Discussion". If all topics were shown, users would need to navigate before seeing the relevant posts.
If I created a new forum for each project, there would be dozens of forums, and as far as I understand there couldn't be a single point in which all topics (in this case Projects of the Week) could be searched or navigated. Perhaps forums are easier to create and manage than I realize, but it seems like a lot of work.
If I could just set the starting page of the embedded forum to a specific topic, problem solved. It wouldn't matter if the user navigated back to the main topic page. The important thing is that the comments related to the project topic are viewable on the individual project pages.

Hi dadeishk,
What I recommend you is to add a link at the bottom of "Ornament Project Discussion" webpage to your "Ornament Project Discussion" topic/forum, so when someone clicks in this link, he will be redirected to that specific discussion. To do this, just copy and paste the topic permalink(you can find it at top-right in your topic forum page). :) Helper |
I think that I'll used the link mentioned, but Iframe it in so that the comments are visible on the page.
