I understand you need to pay to keep nabble adds from appearing in the forum, and think those prices would be workable. But I haven't found anything in nabble's help pages that explains how to install the code for Google adsence for my own adds. Can anyone explain how to do this or point me in the right direction?

Can anyone help???

Edit the NAML Code. There is a Edit This Page like in the footer. Click the gear near the top. Select search macros.
Select search by text and enter categories. Click override this macro and insert the code at the bottom. That will add ads to the sidebar. |
The URL is
http://hydro.1108692.n5.nabble.com/ It's just a test forum right now. If things work out so I can figure out the settings etc. etc. I would consider using it, and would be imbedding it on a page of my website. But I need to make sure I can add the Google ads, know where they will be showing, know how many per page, as well as make sure I can figure out the admin functions. Also I need to make it look similar to my website, and understand the layout before I started using it because I don't want to delete a lot of peoples posts to switch to another format/program later. Also need to know things like what type of attachments are allowed, as well as what size attachments. If pictures/attachments are displayed as thumbnails, how many are allowed per post. I'm assuming all that is controlled by the admin page, but I haven't seen anything explaining it yet. I'm also concerned that there wont be any support for the Nabble forum, because I read that they were going with a paid support structure instead of free support. I'm new to this and don't feel I will be able to make it work without support. If that was the case I would need to start over with another type of forum program and as said, don't want to go through that. |
! can answer some of your questions...
In simple terms you just adjust the CSS of your forum to suit your web site. Here are some examples: http://www.rustonreaches.co.uk/forum.html http://www.seahawk17.org.uk/forum.htm http://www.gregafloat.org.uk/blog/index.html http://www.threeriversrace.org.uk/index.php5?title=Forum If you are testing out the forum then create a dummy page on your site that is not linked from your navigation system then you will be able to see exactly how all your customisations will perform. Bear in mind that there are a number of layouts, "applications" to use Nabble terminology, with names such as "Forum", "Mixed", "Board" "Category" and each of these is customisable in a number of ways before you even think about working on the CSS to make the forum adopt the same colour scheme , fonts, etc, to match your main site. Explore them all! Any type of attachment is allowed. On the forum you add them via: More > Upload a file when posting a message. Maximum file size for any one file is 5Mb You may insert as many images you in any post. Pictures are displayed as specified in the dialogue that appears on clicking the "Insert Image" button. Maximum upload size for an individual image is 2Mb. The resulting image will depend on the options selected. If the image is primarily intended for print rather than display on screen, then it is often best to upload it as a file, as a 2Mb image file will normally require scrolling and never be fully visible on screen.
No it's all controlled by the person posting and the options they choose. The Free forum is available for support from Nabble Support Staff and you'll also often get reliable answers from other Nabble users. "Premium Support" is charged for. If you scan through the main page on this forum and read a number of topics in detail you'll see that it can amount providing you with a fully customised bespoke service. Staff will always answer questions posted there before turning to the Free Forum
