How do you restore a backup?

I have a Nabble forum. I download a backup of it regularly but what can I do with the backups? I was wondering how a backup can be restored so you can undo forum changes since the backup. Thanks!

I actually don't want to restore a backup. I just wanted to know if there was a way I could do it myself and if there is, how to do it. If there isn't a way that I can do it myself then I guess I've gotten my answer and this topic is finished. Thanks for helping me :)

So it's like no matter of the backup file's size, if I need to restore the forum I just post a link to the file & Nabble staff does the rest?

What about the "The backup file is generated with the JdbcPgBackup tool, which is an open source project in Java. You should visit the project website if you want to restore your backup into a Postgresql database." ? Not sure I can understand it at the moment.

What if a whole forum (or site) gets deleted by the owner or even by Nabble staff - would it be possible to restore it if I have a backup file?

When a forum is deleted the owner receive an email with the backup.
We can restore it with that file or that email.
