I truly like the idea of "universal back-end" for the tree structure.
That's exactly what I was after.
I thought LDAP like repository may do the similar thing but it is much
complicated than necessary for my purpose.

Could you let me try "universal back-end"? I am developing a small
intranet memo/note web application and your back-end seems perfect. We all
use Java here.. Hope to get your answer as soon as possible. (Charging
some cost may be fine. It will only take some time for approval)
