Home page presentation

nraffray
Hi, I've created 4 sub forums but would like latests topics under these sub forums to be shown on the home page just under the sub forum title, I've seen other forums doing it (ex http://bloggerstop.net/p/bloggerstop-community.html) and mine looks like http://zeregate.blogspot.com/p/forum.html.

Thanks

Yes! that's better thank you, I wrongly though changing application was moving away from a forum application ! I used the Table application and I wonder how it will evolved when I will have many posts?! it actually shows the detail of each subject but could we show only the title of each subject ?

Thanks

If it helps to imagine how a couple of Nabble applications appear, once populated with posts, you could take a look at two of mine.

http://www.gregafloat.plus.com/blog/index.html
is a Nabble "News" application with the appearance preference for Page Layout set to "Narrow" and Picture Size "Big".

http://www.seahawk17.plus.com/forum.htm
is a Nabble "Mixed" application, with "Forum" sub-forums and the appearance preference for Page Layout set "Wide" and Picture Size "Small".

While testing to see what works for you it's worth creating a sub-forum, with a number of dummy posts in it and then play with its application type. Once you've experimented, and made up your mind, delete the sub-forum and all the dummy posts will go with it.

Hi Greg, I tried in all the ways but cannot match your layout! my main forum page is set as mixed application and my sub forums as forums applications but on the

main page while the titles of my sub forums appears it doesn’t show the subjects!

By the way I can see that we have some points in common !

Hi Nicolas,

I am unclear what you are trying to achieve.

http://bloggerstop.net/p/bloggerstop-community.html
Is a "Mixed" application. It allows posting at the root/top level. This is why the first section is headed "Topics".

On my SeaHawk Forum, I only allow posting in the sub-forums. No one may post at the top level. This is why on my forum the first "Topics" section is missing.

http://zeregate.blogspot.com/p/forum.html
This is a "Category" application, and is not "Mixed". But you say:

I do not understand.

Maybe you are missing some categories to achieve the appearance you want.

Hi Greg,

yesterday I tried all application types and finally leaved it on Table, you may have accessed during one of these trial when it was set to

Category. If you don’t mind (I don’t) I can give you access so you have a look, like you I won’t allow posting at top level, only in sub

forums and like you I want that a certain number of topics titles of sub forums to appear in the main forum page. Please send me a

mail on [hidden email] and I’ll give you access.

Hi Peter,

I have now been given access to Nicolas' forum and can confirm that when you select "Mixte" (He is running under the French language) it does NOT change to this format, but remains as a "Forum" application. The other application types that I tested do all respond as expected.

There does seem to be a bug here that needs investigation.

I have not posted the URL of the forum as Nicolas has not mentioned it in his posts. I hope that his username on this forum will be sufficient for you to identify the affected forum. I have suggested that he post the URL here or, at least, post it to you privately.

Naffray,

Options->Structure->Gérer les sous-catégories

"Pin" your categories. I guess you will get what you want.
