Help Moving a topic to a different subcategory

In a newspaper application type, is it possible to "completely" move one topic to another subcategory?
I put the subcategory's permalink in the post that I wanted to move and all it did was create a copy of the topic in the subcategory, With the original topic still in the category I'm trying to move it from.

When I try to delete the topic from either the old or new category it deletes both the topics.

I do not want the topic still showing in the old category. I also do not want to have to post the topic in a post in the new subcategory. :(

To move a topic:
1. Identify the permalink of the target subcategory and copy it.
2. Open the newspaper topic to be moved
3. Open the OPTIONS menu for that topic and select MOVE POST
4. Paste the copied target into the field in the page that appears.
5. Click the MOVE POST button

If you still have problems post the URL of the forum, the post you want to move and the target subcategory.
