Help Loggin In

Our Gang
I created a website on wix and added the nabble forum, I can log into nabble from that site but it is a very condensed version, when I try to log into nabble directly I keep getting the message that the account can't be found. I created this account that I am posting this in with the same email address but my nabble forum is not connected to this one for some reason. I really don't want to edit the forum through wix in that condensed version, it's easier for me to see the whole page. Can someone tell me why I can't log into my account through the nabble page, only through the wix website.

Thanks
Sam

I know almost nothing about Wix (or any of the other detestable visual click and drag web design software tools). However, usually, it is a matter of the way the space for the forum has been created.

I don't understand "log into nabble directly". Please post the URL of the forum you are talking about.

Indeed, there is no connection between Nabble Support and your personal forum. You can have the same or even a different username/email address on scores of Nabble hosted forums. They will not connect with each other.

I'm not entirely clear what you mean by "condensed". A full description would be useful.

I don't understand "the nabble page". Please specify the URL of forum to which you are referring.

When I try to log in to www.nabble.com, it says that it can't find the user. If I log in through my wix.com website, I can actually log in to Nabble, but it's not a full size page that you would see if you were logging into Nabble directly.  Here is the link to the wix webpage with the nabble forum on it: http://www.wix.com/simboyafilms/ourgangwebsite/resources

Just a Volunteer Nabble Helper - because the nice folk at Nabble have helped me!

By nabble page I mean the www.nabble.com. Currently I have to go to www.wix.com, log into that site, then go to resources link and then log into nabble, but again, it is not a full page and the settings for the box are preset. I would rather login through www.nabble.com, and I have done that before but for some reason it's not recognizing my email address or password.

Ok thanks for all of your help I figured it out, I have to access the site through the permalink option. Weird, but it works so I am happy now.

Thanks  so much

Now I see!

When you referred to
http://www.nabble.com
and logging on there (which is somewhere you can't log on - hence my confusion) you actually meant log on at:
http://o-u-r-g-a-n-g-forums.2317092.n4.nabble.com/
Yes that is the address you'll find via the permalink dialog and by a right-click over any conventional link and choosing "Open Link in New Tab" (or whatever the option is called on your browser), or a wheel-click (if you use Windows mouse driver and default settings).

"Permalink" is the conventional term for direct links to specific pages on most forum, blogging, and similar software, and is, certainly, the appropriate term to use here, where the address bar does not show the URL of the forum page at which you will be viewing.

Many forum Administrators will want to stop their users using any technique that allows them to break out of their main site as many users do become very confused and unable to find their way back to the main site, once they've broken out.

The answer is in the REDIRECT option that you'll find under OPTIONS > EMBEDDING OPTIONS. This will stop everyone, including you, escaping from your site. Not what you are asking for now, I know! However, once your site is set up as you want it, it is a setting I would advise you to use.  Once your forum is established you should only remove the REDIRECT option in the brief periods when you are doing further development work, such as resetting permissions, when I do accept a narrow window on to your forum is an inconvenience.
