Yes, but we backup the full database. So we can't restore a single forum out of it. Such backups are used only if the server crashes.

It is not necessary. As explained above, we can restore servers if they crash, but not forums (and other apps) that got deleted by users or by our
garbage collection process. So if your forum is visited often and/or you read emails weekly, everything should be ok for you (unless you have added a crazy administrator that likes the delete button).
The original goal of the XML backup is that users should have an option to leave Nabble and move their contents to another system. We just try to be as good as possible to our users.
