I'd experiment with that header code a little.
I note you're using an XHTML tag for the image while the page itself is served as HTML4.01 Transitional. That may not help.
There appears to be more to it than just the white text you talk of on the "menu" page. I see that IE11 displays the image border black while FF28 displays it white.
Perhaps some more specific style code for the image would help as well?
