FORUM-how to turn off the capcha feature?

Nabble User
I never get any spam on my forum and the capcha feature blocks some legitimate users from posting on the forum because they may have different browser features turned off, which then keeps the capcha letters from appearing.

My question is how can I turn off this feature entirely?

Thanks for your help!

I am just learning about Nabble, but I really wouldn't recommend trying to disable CAPTCHA.

You say that you don't get any spam... I say that shows how effective CAPTCHA is. And not only that, but Google appreciates the likes of CAPTCHA as a means of preventing the spread of spam. They would not look favourably upon a forum without some method of preventing spam. So if a good position on Google's search engine results pages is important to you, then leave it in!

It seems to me that your problem is that the image doesn't always appear therefore your potential users have nothing to enter... Are Nabble aware of this issue? It may be that they can do something to help fix the problem itself.

It's not like spamming postings are an incurable virus.  I'd rather learn from the experience.

The fact is that for security purposes, many surfers these days turn off features like java and javascript.  The forum I'm talking about has users from overseas who must pay per megabyte and thus turn off images to save money.

We don't provide a feature for that. Furher more, captcha only appears once, upon registration. If you are logged in, you don't have to pass a captcha to post. The captcha is VERY light, less than 5Kb. If your users can't afford that once, I bet they cant access your forum at all. The captcha is not javascript or flash based, it's pure html.

Maybe at premium support you can ask for that since we would have to change the code to do that. Anyway, I strongly advise against it and I don't see any reason to do it.
Nabble staff. We never ask for passwords.

Obviously users don't want to turn on and turn off images for particular web sites as they generally surf.  However, thanks very much for your info, Peter, it is much appreciated.
