Exporting subscribed user emails

elifarley
Is there an easy way to export all names and emails of currently subscribed users of my forum?

Thanks,
Elifarley

No!

The best you can do for subscribers is to go to OPTIONS > USERS > MANAGE SUBSCRIBERS and copy/paste the entries you find on each and every page there.

I wish that Nabble offered a read-only "Subscribers" group listing on the page that appears under OPTIONS > USERS > MANAGE USERS and GROUPS - then you could copy/paste the list from there.

Interesting, I will think about it.

Re: Exporting subscribed user emails

No.

Currently, all my Nabble forums, (I do have a number) reverted to the new standard "Contact us if you want the 'Invite subscriber' module" message, but one does have a special "Add Subscriber" module added by Nabble. (See: http://support.nabble.com/Convert-Forum-to-Mail-List-tp7580384.html)

The wish I expressed was not intended specifically for any of my Nabble forums, but rather that it should be part of the standard Nabble product.

I felt it important to serve those who use Nabble principally for its mail facilities, where numbers of subscribers is vital information. (As a mail list, and perhaps mail list archive, admin those distinguishing those who register, and those who subscribe is vital.) At the moment, Nabble concentrates on serving those who manage a forum (where those registering is important, but subscribers are probably peripheral).

I come from a background of extensive use of YahooGroups, which operates the opposite way round to Nabble, with the assumption of mail interaction (where notification, by mail, of those subscribing and lists of subscribers have always been available - right back to the days when it was "eGroups" and before that "OneList") and where the web interface is an optional extra adding facilities (such as, mail archives, polls, file archives and photo albums) for which additional registration was required.

So a further wish that ought to form part of this development is a further option at: Options > Application > Extras &Add-ons > Email and Notification that would "Notify me when someone subscribes".

I turned to Nabble as I began to find Yahoo's site slow, adverts too intrusive and mail archive searching highly unreliable, especially for posts several years old. Making Nabble still more mail list/archive friendly would seem to me to be a great benefit.

If you do wish to pursue this then I would be happy for you to use my forum at:
http://seahawk-forum.968426.n3.nabble.com/
as a test bed.
However, I am sure that the admin at:
http://uk-hbbr-forum.967333.n3.nabble.com/
a much more active forum/mail list, would also welcome becoming a test bed for improved mail list administrative facilities for it's many subscribers. I am a moderator there and recommended the transfer from YahooGroups.

Since you give the permission to test it in your forum (http://seahawk-forum.968426.n3.nabble.com/ ) I've created a new tab, see at Manage Subscribers -> raw list. There you can find only the emails from the subscribers.
Please, let me know if you like it or not.

Re: Exporting subscribed user emails

Many thanks for working on this. That certainly makes it much easier to extract the addresses than using the standard screen. I can click - shift-click to select all addresses and on copying it, it pastes into my text editor on one address per line.

However, I now realise I have relatively few subscribers and note that the list echoes the format of the "People" lists. Those pages paginate at 20 users. Would the "Raw List" list all subscribers on a single page, regardless of numbers?

Thinking about it further, it would be still better to do things the way that YahooGroups do it. As a list/group owner you can go to the member screen for your group, and you get two special links that regular users don't see: "Download" and "Export".

The first of these displays a simple text file that lists just the members' addresses in a one per line format. The second also produces a text file, but this one is a full quote and comma separated file that includes the full profile of each member on a record per line basis. The equivalent fields for Nabble would be something like:

'username','address','date registered','user','registered','administrator','member','individual','digest','new topics','replies','signature','number of posts', and so on...

The nice thing about these appearing directly in the browser as text files is that you can use its facilities (menus or keystrokes) to save these pages. There's no hassle trying to copy and paste parts of a page. Additionally, in the case of the "Export" option, you can easily load the file directly into a spreadsheet and sort, filter and otherwise manipulate it as you please.

I've couldn't test it because I have few subscribers too. But I removed the pagination macro and I really believe that it is working perfect

Hi Pedro,

I've visited the new tab, but I can only see 25 subscribers there. We have a lot more than that. How can I see the full list?

Thanks!
