Good morning
We are anew patchwork & lifestyle store and one of the programs we are running are clubs. If a customer signs up to a club, one of the pros is exclusive access to the forum for support etc. I have figured out how to add the forum to my bigcommerce site, however when you click on the link, the standard "if you are not a member register now" option appears on the logon screen. We do not want anyone who is not a member of the club registering. I would like this to be by invitation only - or is my option to put the club members name into the members list? If so then how do they choose a password to log in? Hope this question makes sense. Thanks in advance. J |
Morning Bella,
You can set special sections in your forum that only a certain group can see and post. To do this, go to a subforum and Options > Users > change permissions, you can see there many options. You can create more groups in Options > Users > Manage users & groups and give them specific rights. You will have to add new members for this "clubs"(new groups) manually :) Helper |
Thankyou so much for such a quick reply.
I have manually added members emails to the members group. However how do they log on? Do I set a password for them? Is there a way to disable the register now button so no one can register themselves. Sorry I'm a little confused. J |
If you have added them to that group, and you put the correct permissions, they just have to log in nabble and they'll be able to see their allowed sections. There is no password.
I'm not sure bout what do you mean by delete the register button. If you delete it, you can send them the link to registration, but then other users won't be able to register the forum. I think that this makes no sense :P but I don't know which kind of forum do you want. If there are different groups(Members, Registered) why do you want to remove it? I mean, if someone is registered but isn't in Members group and this user want to view a post that only members can see, then they will see a page that says "Authorized users only" and they will be able to send an email to the administrator explaining why they want to access to that section/topic. Here is a screenshot for this page(it's my own forum, so it has different colours and letter style): http://support.nabble.com/file/n7582242/nabble2.jpg :) Helper |
I am so sorry, I'm not explaining myself correctly so I'll start from the beginning.
We have a club called the Jinny Beyer Moon Glow Club. Basically a customer joins the club, with a purchase of fabric and the pattern for the quilt. These club members will meet every month while they are working on the quilt and as an "exclusive" option, they will have access to this forum. Only these customer's will have access to the whole forum.
Actually I think I've just worked it out as I was typing.
I should have a general forum for our store and have a area in the forum for "jinny beyer club" which can only be accessed by club members - through the members permission.
That way I can open the whole use of the forum for other topics, not just the club, but still have that level of exclusivity and specialness.
Got it!
Thanks so much.
J
