Copying an existing forum

mrcjackson
Unfortunately I accidentally deleted the Muse file of a published website and am now rebuilding it. I am trying to copy my Nabble forum onto a new page in my rebuilt site. Using the embedding code it does copy to the web page but it looks like a copy and not as the original. Also it would not upload to the FTP server. Can anyone help.

I take it the "it" refers to the main web site and not your Nabble Forum.

What the embedding code does is take the current version of your forum and place it in the page where you put the embedding code. It cannot possibly put a "copy" of your forum there. It only knows about the real, current, actual forum.

You probably need to post the URL of your forum here and explain why you think it looks like a copy of your forum and not the real thing.
Also it would not upload to the FTP server.
There is no need to upload a Nabble forum to the host of your web site. Your forum is hosted by Nabble on Nabble's servers. That is why you embed a Nabble forum - so it is fetched from Nabble's servers, and not those of your main site.

Thank you for replying. I appreciate your help.

Yes, it is the website I am rebuilding. The existing website is still up and running (www.unitingtheconurbation.org.uk) but I can no longer update it so I am rebuilding my Muse file from an earlier file which I had saved.

In order to keep the posts to the "Have Your Say" page on the existing website I am wanting to embed this "Forum" page (http://utc-have-your-say.38307.n7.nabble.com/) from Nabble into the Muse file I am rebuilding.

Using the embedding code and copying it to the new "Have Your Say" page I get what seems to be a copy of my Nabble "Forum" page rather than an embedding of the Nabble file.

When I try to preview this new page in a browser the Nabble "Forum" just disappears although the "loading" icon appears on the page doing nothing.

Does that clarify?

Chris

Hi Greg,

I seem to have solved my problem but am not sure why. I think I probably didn't have the "export" tab ticked on the Forum page. Thanks for your help. Chris
