Can characters be truncated in multipost view on blog

Is there a way to control or at least have the option of truncating the number of characters displayed while in the multi-post view on a blog?  And also, when I opt to use the newspaper option, the characters in multi-post view are automatically truncated to a 'read more' in single post view.  Is there an option to change this as well?

I am not aware of such an option for a blog. For a newspaper see:
Options > Application > Extras & Add-ons > Content >  Custom summary for Newspaper
