Do you have an image, of a blog, or a link to a blog that shows how the ads will look on Nabble embeddable blogs?
|
If you search for "blog" at http://www.nabble.com you should be able to find some. Here's a number that came up in the results:
http://moksha-tours-blog.4966588.n2.nabble.com/ http://kaleeko-com-blog.865449.n3.nabble.com/ http://fiskerton-village-blog.965356.n3.nabble.com/ http://michael-alsen-s-blog.2917295.n2.nabble.com/ However, if the administrator chooses the Preference designed for a "Narrow" screen, (OPTIONS > CHANGE APPEARANCE > PREFERENCES > PAGE LAYOUT) then the sidebar on the right disappears and the ads then appear after the first post in each topic, rather than under the sidebar.

Those small square boxes with Ad Choices from Google are Nabble ads? I don't think that's a big deal, it doesn't cover the post or anything like other services, pretty smart... that's cool. But I have this layout, in my case it will just be underneath?

Your application looks like a Nabble "Newspaper" (set to "Narrow") rather than a "Blog". However, the same will apply. Placement of the ads depends on whether you have set the sidebar to display or not.

Ok, so I hope you don't mind, since I'm a new Nabble user without many features but I put in a poll, and can't see it even if I clicked participate. Do you see it? http://makeuseoftech.32976.n6.nabble.com/C-Introduction-tp34.html;cid=1342710559694-937

No! I do see a special link under the photo at the bottom of your post, but that just seems to return you to the post. This may be a bug or may be related to a change to the code made recently and noted in the Premium Support forum: http://support.nabble.com/Polls-nice-tp7580657p7580740.html. I have not used or tested the poll feature. Perhaps a poll has to be the sole content of the post?

Alright -- thanks. Well, I just got a new user. [hidden email] and he put himself as an admin. Who is he or she?! Why did he end up in my admin place? Also how can I remove people from "All members" ??

As you see, Nabble cloaks the email addresses, so I can't tell, but as I understand it, that could only be one of the Nabble Staff Team (Pedro or Hugo are most likely). No one else has the power to access your forum and promote themselves to admin. I'm sure they'll report soon.

Ok, as long as it's safe to have them registers... I asked him or her who they were. They'll report meaning letting me know who they are? Did they ever do that to you, what do they usually access as an admin for? It's my forum?
|
If you report a problem Nabble cannot replicate in their test environment they may need to access your forum to uncover the problem. Hugo has done that on a test forum of mine, a long time ago, but from memory did warn me he needed to do that first.

I've just looked on your forum - under the "People" link. I see only you are recorded as "Administrator". There five people who have registered and you have promoted to "Members" and one who is "Registered". Anyone can register. I see no evidence of any security having been breached - even by Nabble staff. Everything seems to fit with the permissions you will have set.

I feel bad now I removed him as an admin. I didn't know that's why. I had a blog before from another host, something similar happened and the staff hacked me, so I took a precaution. That's why you might not have seen me. Should I put him back? I gladly will since I know it's safe now

I've got the admin permission quickly to see some of your configurations trying to understand the poll problem.

About this poll issue, it will be fixed in the next release.

Will I have to get a new embed code or is it automatic?

Nabble constantly works on revisions to the code behind its applications. My understanding is that new code to sort out bugs, and occasionally add new features, is normally uploaded to the various servers every few days. The changes are normally invisible to most users, and no special action needs to be taken. In your case, where you seem to have uncovered a bug, I would guess you will suddenly find things working as you would expect them to - or at least you'll see your poll appear.

Yup. It shows now, but now when I click vote I don't see that it goes in. Why must people login to vote? Can it be made so anyone can? I'm using Chrome if that helps.

When I visit: http://digitechguide.webs.com/blog I can see no obvious article heading that includes a poll and when I search for "poll" it shows zero results so I can't find yours in action. Perhaps that is because I'm not registered and so cannot access the poll topic. I suspect that the Poll facility is designed so only registered people can vote so that a record can be kept of those who have voted. Otherwise results could be made invalid by one or more anonymous users taking part and voting innumerable times.
