Block unwanted posts

How do I block unwanted posts from my forum?

Go to Options < Users < Change Permissions

What do I turn off or on? I've tried what I think should work but I'm still getting unwanted posts.

First off many thanks to Israel.
You seem a great guy that has helped many over the years.
Again, many thanks.  

The problem with banning and changing permissions
is the bad actors just resign up using a different name and email.  
I see this even here, in the support forum.
Some times it’s flooded with spam, to the point of denial of service.  Which then needs clean up by an admin.

A captcha system only stops the bots.
That’s not enough.

Some kind of holding area, where potential members could be screened by an administrator, be it phone or email, before being admitted to the site membership.

It’s a big problem, that’s for sure.

The only way, and it’s a purely half baked way,
Is to make everyone you trust an administrator.
Then, in people/ permissions, change the setting to only administrators can post, or start new sub topics.

Set up an email, put it on your front page, and tell people they need to apply to post.  

At least then it’s up to you, the owner of the site, who gets in, and is able to post.
