All avatars now lost - 'change avatar' utility does not work

I see that Nabble has changed its protocols for registration. This is good if it means that site owners have more control over forum users. But it's very bad news for existing Registered users and Members. All their avatars have been lost. As I have several dozens of members, who have laboured mightily to upload their avatars across 11 different forums in two sites, this is a disaster.

Alas, the following instruction does not work:

"If you want to restore your old avatar, go to your personal settings, then click on "Change Avatar". You will see a button to restore your avatar."

How can I - and my members - restore our avatars without the labour of uploading them all again? (I know that some won't. They'll simply abandon my sites in disgust!)

Thanks for the feedback, Nigel. We have simplified the feature to restore the old avatar: just go to the personal settings page and the button to restore it is there. Your users won't spend more than a few seconds with that. We also fixed a bug in that button. Now the image is immediately restored.
